The Move, The Vet and I'm sick!

I'll start with the happy stuff.

Well, me, Mommy and the dog got moved in with Mommy's fiance, Brian. I like him. He's quiet, he doesn't pick on me like the last man Mommy lived with did, and he knows all the good places I like to be scratched. He even talks sweetly to me and scratches my chin. So I think I'll be ok living with him. Mommy is about to take us all back to her family's house (where we just moved from) for about a week for a Christmas visit! I HATE riding in the car, but it will be nice to see "Daddy" again. He's really Mommy's Daddy, so technically my Granddaddy, but I just call him Daddy for short anyway. It's been peaceful living here at the apartment with Brian and Mommy, because at Daddy's house there are still the kittens: Snowball and Snowflake. When will they learn, that I don't like them? I don't WANT to play with them! Kitties steals the loves... Oh, I even got to explore the porch today! I'll have to get some pics. We have a lil balcony here at the apartment like we had at Daddy's house! It's not as big, but Mommy says I can watch the birds when the weather is warm again! I think I'll like that. So all-in-all, the move wasn't a bad thing. I'm the only cat in the house again, I still have my cat tree that I can lay on in the sunshine through the windows, still have my Mommy, and also have Brian that pets and loves me too. Mommy says she's very proud of how I've adjusted.

Now for the unhappy stuff.

I'm sick! We don't know why yet. Mommy is getting up EXTRA early in the morning to get me to the vet by 9am. We're going to Daddy's for the Christmas stuff tomorrow, so I'll be in the car a long time. We will drive an hour and a half to get to Daddy's, then Mommy will drop off the dog and our suitcases, then take me to the vet. It's the same vet I've seen since I was a kitten. We haven't transferred my records to a local vet yet. But that's ok, because Mommy really likes our usual vet. He's taken care of the dog for over 15 years now! So if Dog can be healthy that long, he should be able to do wonders for me! What happened is on Thursday I started having diarrhea really bad. Then by Saturday I threw up on the carpet. I've been barely eating too. I'm still having diarrhea every day, and eating less and less. Mommy's been mixing water in with my food so that even though I'm only eating a little bit, I wont get dehydrated. Vet said to have me drink some pedialite, but I turned my nose up at it. She even got me some soft kitten food, something she thought would digest easy on my tummy, and warmed it up like the vet said. I feel bad that Mommy's cooking for me and I'm still not able to eat. But my tummy hurts and my butt is sore too. Mommy washes it gently every day with a moist wipe with aloe or something in it, to help it feel better and stay clean. Because of my pudgy tummy I can't reach to clean my bottom properly, so Mommy helps me out by washing it for me every day. That way it stays nice and clean. If someone doesn't wash it for me, I scoot my butt on the carpet because it itches. The vet said the dirt in the carpet was letting bacteria up into my private areas since I was scooting so much, and it gave me a urinary tract infection. I had to go on antibiotics for it. So, as long as Mommy washes it for me, no more itchy, so more more infections. Mommy's just being extra gentle now since my butt is sore from going to the litter box so much. I had an accident on the carpet while Mommy was taking a bath. She forgot to leave the door cracked open in case I needed to get to the litter box, and I couldn't wait till she was done, so I did it in the corner. She wasn't mad because she knew I didn't mean to do it. That was the day I threw up in 3 different piles too. I was due to see a vet anyway, so I might as well go and get better, and get my other stuff too. I'm due for my rabies, my bordatella, and a fecal worm check. Since they have to check for worms anyway, they can hopefully find out why my tummy is upset. If it's more worms somehow, they can give me medicine. If not, they may have to do a blood test to see what else it could be. And they said that if I'm too dehydrated when I go in, they may keep me for the day for some IV fluids. I don't wanna stay there all day! So Mommy has been making sure I get fluids. We hope it's enough!

I can't wait to see what Mommy, and her Mommy and Daddy got me for Christmas this year! I hope it's something yummy!!

Time to go rest. Busy day tomorrow! I'll update when I can about what the vet says made me sick.

Catnip Wishes and Happy Holidays to all!
